At William Fremd high school, she is on the principal’s honor roll among the top of her class, placed third in Harper College’s annual writing competition, and is on the lacrosse team. Outside of Melissa’s strong academic record and involvement at school, she volunteers at Alexian Brothers Hospital women and infant services sector and has been recognized for her commitment as a volunteer. In addition, she invests much of her free time at Holy Family Parish, where she coordinates and participates in youth volunteer events, such as aiding the rehabilitation process of former convicts at St. Leonard’s house and the homeless at the Boulevard in the Chicago south side. She helps manage the youth ministry program at her church and was selected as a leader on the upcoming Kairos overnight retreat for Catholic teens. Alongside her hospital and religious work, Melissa also coaches children’s gymnastics at the YMCA.

Melissa aspires to study international business in college and has experience with social media, marketing classes through her school, coding, and management. She is also passionate about environmental sustainability and photography, as well as developing cultural awareness through her travels.
